The spicy-hot story starts before we are born. Why do some pepper eaters calmly bear the sensation whereas others react so dramatically after a single bite? How well people can tolerate the Reaper’s spiciness varies widely. Rated at more than 1.5 million Scoville heat units (SHU), the accepted scale for pungency or spicy heat, the Reaper falls right below the pepper spray police use for crowd control, which is 2-5.3 million SHU. “I ate 6 of them at one time,” posted Anina Skeel Holbek Thomsen. Instead of metal lath, if we are doing patch work we will use a finer mesh to act as a backbone for the plaster. Although it is slightly softer than stucco, it will still hold up for more years than you can count. Plaster is a gypsum based product that looks wonderful in your home or office. Although there is no such thing as a maintenance free building, it is low maintenance and will last as long as you want it to you if you take care of it. Stucco will stand the test of time and Mother Nature, no matter how wicked she may be. (Pun intended since it is a form of rock.) When you visit historical buildings that are hundreds of years old and look what they’re made of, you’ll see that it’s stucco. We used this mostly when we are applying stucco to a smooth surface. This helps hold the stucco to the wall by giving it something to cling to. ![]() Before it is applied, we used a layer of metal lath which is sort of like a really really thick chicken wire. To add some fun texture, different types of sand are used in specific quantities to make sure you enjoy every inch of your home. The fiberglass acts as another structural support to make sure cracks stay away and no chunks will fall off. For added strength and support we will sometimes mix bits of fiberglass strands in with the mud. Stucco is a Portland and lime based product. You might now say “Hey, they are pretty much the same materials, I mean, you apply them the same way, don’t you?” And yes, we do apply them using the same methods and techniques and that’s because that is what works the best. The simplest explanation is as follows: stucco is for the exterior and plaster is for the interior. The other prosecutors also declined to prosecute Cuomo, with Oswego DA Gregory Oakes most recently saying there wasn’t “a sufficient legal basis to bring criminal charges.” The most serious allegation - that Cuomo, 64, groped 33-year-old aide Brittany Commisso in Albany’s Executive Mansion in December 2020 - led to the filing of a misdemeanor charge of forcible touching.īut that case was dropped by Albany County District Attorney David Soares, who said that although Commisso was “cooperative and credible, after review of all the available evidence we have concluded that we cannot meet our burden at trial.” The accusations - including from a state trooper who was assigned to his protective detail - were outlined in the bombshell report from Attorney General Letitia James that forced Cuomo to resign under threat of impeachment in August. Andrew Cuomo resigned amid a barrage of sexual harassment allegations in August 2021. Sexual harassment isn’t a crime under New York law, but district attorneys in Manhattan, Albany and Westchester, Nassau and Oswego counties all launched probes into allegations that he subjected various women to unwanted touching and kissing. But I didn’t realize the extent to which the line has been redrawn.”ĭuring a Q&A with reporters, Glavin on Thursday all but admitted that Cuomo had violated the state’s policy against sexual harassment, saying, “The state policy is not the law.” Glavin’s assertions came after she previously acknowledged that some of the accusations against Cuomo may have had merit, when she wrote in October that “even if you were to accept every complaint as fact (which we do not), more than half of the complainant’s allegations do not meet the standard of sexual harassment set forth in law.”Ĭuomo has also acknowledged that some of his actions were inappropriate, saying in his resignation speech, “In my mind, I’ve never crossed the line with anyone. “When you apply the evidence and the law, zero women were harassed,” Rita Glavin said. “When you apply the evidence and the law, zero women were harassed,” she said. I did notice some odd lag when using IS lenses at slower shutter speeds. The refresh rate is fast and the resolution is crisp. The technical specs are one thing, but moving from an optical viewfinder to the EVF in the EOS R isn’t an issue. As is the case with any mirrorless, what you see in the EVF is what you get. Gone are the days of completely blowing an exposure. You’ll spend less time cropping in post, which is a huge bonus. The AF selection coverage, 88% horizontal and 100% vertical, is mind-blowing compared to an SLR. Gone are the days of being locked into a few dozen AF points clustered in the middle of your frame. This is a great improvement in Focus Point Coverage While the powerhouse pro bodies are still slightly quicker for initial focus lock in servo, the EOS R has a better chance of delivering more pictures in focus from the set. In my past two months with the Canon EOS R, my hit rate is near 90 percent. The hit rate of any camera in good light during a portrait session will be much higher. This includes everything from dimly lit prep photos all the way to bodies moving on the dance floor. If I had to take an educated guess, my hit rate using an SLR over the past 4 to 6 years would be anywhere from 40 to 60 percent. The Canon EOS R gives you that same increased hit rate without looking like Aunt Sally trying to use a dSLR for the first time. ![]() I hate feeling like a tourist at the Grand Canyon, but it’s a sacrifice I’m willing to make in exchange for knowing my pictures will be in focus. It does some things well, but Sony’s current a7 models are more like a Tesla in comparison – check the Canon EOSĮver since the 5D Mark IV arrived with its dual-pixel autofocus, I’ve found myself shooting from the rear LCD more often than not. However, due to its finicky controls, odd ergonomics and laggy interface, you’ll miss moments, because the camera just can’t keep up. In short, when shooting with the Canon EOS R, your ability to hit focus and nail exposure increases dramatically over any dSLR I’ve ever shot with. The electronic viewfinder has its advantages over the optical, but Canon’s go at their first full-frame mirrorless, the EOS R, falls short in many areas. However, with Sony forcing Canon’s hand, its inevitable that we’ll all one day be shooting mirrorless. ![]() I love its size, dual-pixel autofocus and for the most part, it does a good job of keeping up with my editorial approach to weddings. So where does that leave me, having been a Canon user for nearly 10 years now? I enjoy the 5D Mark IV. Now, it seems as if nearly all of my colleagues are jumping ship from Canon & Nikon to Sony. When Sony announced the first iteration of the a7 in 2013, not many photographers thought much of it. 1.5x for perfect fifth harmonies and triplet rhythms.
